Today the New Buccaneer went on the 8-hour trip while the Cavalier had a 12-hour private charter.

The New Buccaneer 8-hour trip returned with 311 spadefish, 8 mangrove snapper, 22 blue runner, 3 king mackerel, 2 spanish mackerel, and 1 crevelle jacke. The Cavalier 12-hour trip(only 23 people on the trip) returned with 105 vermillion snapper, 1 lane snapper, 8 king mackerel, 17 sharpnose shark, and 1 cobia.

The New Buccaneer with Capt Matt Smith fought a strong current offshore that made fishing more difficult than it should have been.  While one vessel in Galveston did not catch enough fish to hang up for display, the New Buccaneer came in with: 304 vermillion snapper, 16 lane snapper, 34 blue runner, 6 ling, 8 rock hind, 2 red hind, and 1 African Pompano.

The New Buccaneer came in today from the first 30-hour trip of our Fall season.  Capt. Matt Smith and Second Capt. Frank Reyes put the 44 fishermen on a great catch of 34 yellowfin tuna, 234 blackfin tuna, 405 vermillion snapper, 4 lane snapper, 57 king mackerel, 2 scamp grouper, 1 big yellow tail snapper, 1 skipjack tuna, 2 almaco jack, 1 ling, and 1 moray eel. 

The Cavalier 6-hour trip with Capt Sam Hardeman came in with a nice catch of sharks and a 85 lb stingray.

Our heartfelt thanks to all on the New Buccaneer 12-hour trip today, the second to last day of red snapper season.  A customer on the trip suffered a medical condition that prompted the boat to head back in just when it had arrived 66 miles offshore for the planned first stop of the day.  By the time the US Coast Guard helicopter arrived toevacuate the ill passenger the boat was only 17 miles from Galveston.  Capt. Matt Smith did a great job with the limited time available and the boat came in at9 PM with a limit of red snapper.  Our thanks to all those on the trip that hung in there and made the best from an unusual situation. The crew returned with 196 red snapper and 3 lane snapper.

The boat returned Tuesday afternoon with a great catch consisting of: 44 Yellowfin Tuna, 194 Blackfin Tuna, 555 Vermillion Snapper, 53 Scamp Grouper ( a larger number for scamp), 1 Barracuda.
